PHASE 1 AGENDA - DAY 1

Introduction

First Day (theory and practical elements) 6.5 hours
Second Day (theory/practical - followed by an exam in both elements) 6 hours
Exam structure - how results are awarded, criteria for a pass, what is expected
Further Training after Phase One - Phases 2 - 5

4. The Bike Set-up, Safety & Maintenance

Practical One - (45 mins)

Class Type ‘A’ (Beginners set-up & safety) - (A sheet - handouts)

Theory

5. Cycling Technique (Biomechanics) Riding positions (body & bike)
6. Riding the bike on a journey. Different journeys for everyone - fit/unfit/young/old/elite & novice
7. Visualisation (Sports Psychology principles). Mind & Body relationship - (Focus & Concentration techniques)
8. Relaxation
9. Breathing
10. Flexibility
11. Abdominal

Practical Two - 45mins

Class Type ‘B’ (Members who have trained in 6 or more classes) - (B Sheet handouts)

Theory

1. Class and Instructor Feedback
2. Class Structure
3. Types
4. types of student


3. Type A & B Classes - How to run them

PHASE 1 AGENDA - DAY 2

Start

  Go through Worksheet homework - ask for answers and discuss

Practical Three - 40 minutes approx

  Instructor practice teaching each other
  A & B type classes

Theory

1. How to run a type ‘C’ class (C sheet handouts)
2. Music & Motivation
  Structuring music for a 45 minute class with signs & maps

Practical Four (If applicable)

Type ‘C’ Class (Advanced student. More music & advanced techniques 30+ mins)

Theory

3. Review of course theory (Q & A’s)
4. Theory Exam (45mins approx))

Practical Five

5. Practical Exam (45mins approx.)
(note: this can be completed after the ‘C’ Class)

6. Instructor and Club Goals

8. Marketing in your club, to the media plus membership retention
